Notations used in this guide are:

• DBCS character representation

  • Generic representation: D1D2D3 or DiDjDk

    Dn indicates a DBCS character in a data stream or a presentation space.

  • Hexadecimal representation: xxxxH is a DBCS character in hexadecimal representation. For example, A in Japanese DBCS for OS/2 is 8260H. It shows that the first byte of a DBCS A is 82H and its second byte is 60H.
  
  SBCS character representation

  • Generic representation: ssssss or abcdef

  • Hexadecimal representation: xxH is a SBCS character in hexadecimal representation. For example, 41H is the code point of A
